Our Clients Highways Bridges team has a requirement for an Associate Technical Director (Bridges) to work from either their Leeds, Bristol, or Exeter offices. The successful Associate Technical Director will be a chartered / incorporated Structural Engineer with significant experience in Bridge Engineering, design, assessment or project management.

Role Description

The Bridges and Civil Structures team is involved in some of the UK’s most high profile, complex and stimulating projects that are diverse and technically demanding. Our client has an enviable reputation in the delivery of some of the UK’s and indeed the world’s most prestigious and challenging projects. Our client works with companies such as: the Department of Transport, Transport for Scotland, the Highways England, Transport for London, Borough Councils, Civil Engineering Contractors and International Governments, for whom they undertake the planning, design and supervision of civil engineering and transport solutions to exceed their requirements.

As a global multi-disciplinary company, they also work closely with their other sectors and regions around the world. Based in the UK, the Bridges team supports all sectors and regions on bids and the delivery of high profile projects.

Reporting to the Bridges Senior Management team, you will provide technical leadership into assigned projects ensuring successful delivery of technically challenging schemes. As our client operates in such a diverse marketplace, we can safely say that you will gain an experience of working on a wide and varied portfolio of projects which will enhance your skills and test your technical knowledge.

You will be responsible for leading and managing the delivery of projects to meet time, quality, budgetary and health and safety targets, managing all aspects of the client relationship so that delivery exceeds client expectations, providing both direction and technical advice and leading by example where appropriate.

  • Providing technical leadership and advice on a multi-discipline project
  • Applying sound independent engineering judgement across different disciplines
  • Demonstrate sound experience of holistic decision making in a complex project
  • Demonstrate exceptional delegation skills

Qualifications and Experience

  • Have a BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng or equivalent in Structural / Civil Engineering
  • Achieved Chartered or Incorporated Engineer professional status, or equivalent
  • Have previous significant experience including supervision of or bidding for large, complex projects
  • Have excellent personal and social skills
