The Opportunity:
Our clients Ground Engineering team is seeking a Junior Geotechnical Engineer/Engineering Geologist to start immediately, with a minimum of 6 to 12 months’ experience, to work out of their Cardiff office.
In this role you will:
- Undertake Phase 1 Desk Studies with a focus on geotechnical, geological and mining aspects
- Supervise ground investigation works including managing rigs, site activities and logging of soils and rock (in accordance with current UK standards)
- Assist with preparation of health & safety documentation before and during site works
- Assist with the specification and supervision of in-situ testing and sampling in accordance with UK specifications and current technical standards
- Liaise with clients, engineers, contractors and sub-contractors throughout the site work phase
- Assist in the preparation of contract documentation and administration of contracts
- Process and managing site data using spreadsheets and inhouse programmes
- Support with geotechnical data assessment and analysis
- Assist with the development of factual and interpretive conceptual ground models, ground investigation reports and geotechnical design reports
About you:
As the successful candidate you will:
- Have a BSc in Geology, Engineering Geology, Earth Sciences, Geotechnical Engineering, or similar, an MSc would be advantageous
- Be a Fellow/Associate Member of a professional body and working towards Chartership
- Have a willingness and ability to travel regularly to site locations across the UK
- Have a full UK driving licence
