Our client are looking for an Environmental Scientist to join their team in Belfast 

Responsibilities

This role will be based from the office in Belfast and will involve working on oil pollution and contaminated land investigations.

  • Management of a number of oil pollution and contaminated land projects
  • Responsible for financial control of allocated projects including project driven invoicing, issuing of purchase orders, and chasing payment on outstanding and overdue invoices
  • Responsible for procurement and management of subcontractors for allocated projects.  Ensuring that they provide the relevant health and safety method statements and risk assessments and that these procedures are followed throughout the works
  • Pro-active client management, maintaining good communication throughout the lifecycle of a project, being aware of the clients needs and providing regular progress reports and confirming any variances as they arise
  • Accountable for management and performance of projects and continued delivery of a high quality service, providing clear, commercially focused solutions
  • Preparation of project descriptions and collection of appropriate marketing photographs for projects managed
  • Conduct field surveys and collect data about the level of contamination on a site
  • Carry out desk based research, interpreting data
  • Compile technical reports based on findings
  • Review of technical reports, letters, purchase orders, proposals and general correspondence prepared by others, prior to submission
  • In addition to your normal duties, you may occasionally be required to undertake additional work necessary to meet the needs of the business, without additional remuneration.

 

Person Specification

  • The successful candidate should have a science based degree, and previous relevant industry work experience.
  • Knowledge of Phase I and II site investigations and knowledge of remediation techniques and their application.
  • You will need to be motivated, have good organisational and problem solving skills, sound commercial awareness with an understanding of project budgets and timelines.
  • The position also requires the ability to interact with other members of a multi-disciplinary team as well as professional clients, sub-contractors and members of the public.
  • A full UK/EU driving licence is essential for this role.

 

Salary and Benefits

  • Competitive salary between £21,000 and £33,000 depending on experience.
