Responsible To: Directors or Project Director for designated projects
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Technical
A Project Engineer is directly responsible for planning and/or carrying out:
Design, procurement and execution of ground investigation work and associated laboratory testing
Preparation of factual and interpretative aspects of site investigation report
Qualitative and quantitative analysis of geotechnical and environmental designs including computer
based analysis
Detailed design of geotechnical and environmental solutions including foundations, retaining walls,
earthworks, remediation schemes, monitoring programmes
Supervision and direction of specialist geotechnical/environmental/groundworks contractors and
preparation of completion/validation reports
Preparation of Specifications, Contract Documents, cost estimates and measurements
Assessment of designs and information provided by external sources including tendering contractors,
structural engineers and specialist sub‐contractors
2. Managerial
Project Engineer shall:
Ensure that all work is carried out professionally and the procedures for recording and filing information,
technical analyses, quality control checking are all in accordance with the policies
Liaise with clients, other members of project team and regulators on a project specific basis
Control programme and budget of projects for which he/she is responsible
Provide input into programme discussions to ensure adequate resources for his/her projects
Identify to the Directors any potential for increased efficiency/improvements within the current
operations
3. Personal
Be aware of Health and Safety Law and Environmental Law responsibilities
Ensure he/she is undertaking continuing professional development by reading journals, attending
seminars and attending courses
Actively pursue Professional Chartered Status
